What would Larry Legend do?
They don’t quite make players like they used too. Nowadays it’s all about crying, flopping, and social media….it’s all FRIGGIN’ BOGUS. Remember the days when players could full on punch each other? Or when Larry Legend and Dr. J got into a physical altercation in the middle of a game? Those were the days. Nothing excited me more than growing up watching players hate each other. You think Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were actual friends? HELL NO. THEY HATED EACH OTHER, and it showed on the court. Sure they posed for candid photos so the media could make people think they were just “friendly rivals” but the truth of the matter was that there was nothing friendly about their rivalry. That was the thing, the rivalry was passionate. That is what basketball is missing now. Passionate competition, and passionate rivalries. And when I say passionate, I mean players yelling and screaming at each other calling each other names, and even fighting when necessary.
Hell, Kyrie Irving….the man who left Cleveland to cement his own legacy in NBA history without being in the shadow of Lebron James is now arguably one of the biggest divas this league knows. I mean, this man can’t play in the games with his OWN TEAM leading up to All-Star weekend, but then has the nerve to say he is healthy enough to play in a meaningless All-Star Game with his old bud Lebron? Larry Bird single handily would get hurt during a game, leave, and then re-enter the game moments later, playing through the pain. And you best believe if Larry had a choice, his ass would have been playing every game leading up to the break, and then he probably would have sat out the all-star game, because he wanted to beat those guys, not play with them…and that is simply what a legend would do. Larry Bird did not care about his image or what people or other players thought about him…he cared about winning and he cared about his team, and he hated everyone else.
Kyrie? Kyrie appears to love everyone who isn’t on the Boston Celtics. Multiple rumors linking him to several players such as Kevin Durant, Lebron James, and Anthony Davis shows how the league is no longer in competition. Players do not develop rivalries with any other players. Instead, all of these players want to join each other and win rather than beat each other and prove that they are the best. It is disgusting…and don’t even get me started with the rule changes and these FAIRY replay reviews. Give me a break, if a ball goes off a player’s foot and the ref doesn’t see it, well SUCK IT UP. It has been a part of the game for 60 years, and it should continue to be a part of the game. Nothing PISSES ME OFF MORE than taking a 5 minute break every play in the last two minutes of a game because coaches don’t trust referee’s judgement. I get that ref’s get it wrong a majority of the time, but screw it. Makes it more fun, and nothing makes me happier than seeing a ref blow a call and seeing a grown man playing basketball fall to his knees and cry like a 4 year old who found out he can’t get a dog. Pathetic. What would Larry do? It is more what Larry did do, which is “Kick ass, Take names, Win rings,” all with that blown out back of his.
